We're reducing its power in this aspect, as well as making some small adjustments to his Level 7 talents in order to make Arc Discharge more competitive.

Developer Comment: While he deals a whole lot of damage, Tassadar is performing a bit lower than we would like, so we are buffing up various parts of his kit that relate to his survivability and utility, while also increasing the potency of some of his talents. Developer Comment: We've been teasing the Tassadar rework for a long time and it's finally here! Tassadar was previously considered a support Hero, but we felt there was a disconnect between his kit/playstyle and the core fantasy of a High Templar or the other Protoss magic users. Because of this, we've re-imagined Tassadar from the ground up as an ability based Ranged Assassin, similar to characters like Kael'thas and Gul'dan. He retains his Psionic Storm, Force Wall and Archon abilities and has gained two new abilities: Shock Ray and Black Hole. His talent tree has also been radically transformed, giving him a slew of powerful new ways to play. We're very excited to finally get Tassadar into your hands and hope you all enjoy the rework as much as we have!

Developer Comment: It’s no secret that Khaydarin Resonance has consistently proven to be a problematic talent on Tassadar. We want to keep the talent ‘support natured’ which the new design embraces. With the volatility of him in competitive drafts we are striking at his Plasma Shield duration again and offsetting the nerfs with some base damage buffs. The rest of the changes address some talent imbalances and should help even out a few of his Talent Tiers.

Developer Comments: One of our major goals with Hero reworks is attempting to keep as many of the current builds and playstyles that exist for a Hero, trim out older or unhealthy ones, and hopefully open doors for new ones to emerge. When shifting the old Khala’s Embrace to a questing talent (Khaydarin Resonance), we had hoped to lock the immense power that it brought behind a barrier that was difficult to overcome on a lot of maps. In theory, this would make it feel rewarding to take on certain maps, but rarely the most powerful choice. Instead, we found that locking this kind of potential behind an extremely difficult Globe-collecting talent made for a more frustrating experience than a fun one. When taking a step back and considering our options, we felt it best to remove the permanent shielding capabilities and replace it with a less-powerful questing talent.

Developer Comments: We absolutely love releasing reworks and this one was a long-time-coming, as Tassadar has had a bit of an identity crisis from the moment he stepped foot into the Nexus. We knew that the design direction and changes were going to need to be a bit more expansive in scope compared to most of our other reworks, but we did our best to keep him as true to his High Templar heritage as possible. Our goals were to embrace him as a true utility- based support mage. The new "Distortion Beam" Basic Attack should allow you to help peel for your allies as well as secure kills that would be otherwise unobtainable. Plasma Shield has gained baseline utility that will continue to empower Basic Attackers, while also offering more diverse talents in order to better react to enemy and ally compositions. Archon has been surgically buffed and given a passive reset for Dimensional Shift which should be great news for our old-school fans as we fully expect to see a resurgence of back-line infiltration play. Overall, we hope the changes reinvigorate our steadfast Tassadar players while integrating many new ones into the Khala. En Taro Tassadar.

Developer Comments: Some revealers, like Oracle from Tassadar and now Scouting Drone, are very binary in their ability to reveal Heroes, by design. But their purpose is to provide scouting and position of the enemy, and not to negate the effects of Talents or Abilities that rely on Stealth to provide their benefit. While examining these conditional Talents, we decided that it would be more interesting to allow synergies between external sources of Stealth these Talents. We like that choices like Tyrande’s Shadowstalk or Medivh’s Invisibility become more interesting if you have allies that gain additional benefits from Stealth on your team.

Developer Comments: We’ve added a completion point to this Talent. Upon completing its quest, players will be provided with some additional power. This allows us to offer spikes of power in-between Talent levels, or even for a single player on a team. Now, simply picking the Talent and only partially completing it is worse, but finishing the quest will return a larger reward. Choosing the right Talents on the right Battleground or with the right team composition has always been an important goal for us, and this change pushes this Talent to closer align with that goal.

Developer Comments: It’s important that Tassadar players can queue for Quick Match and not be worried that they are going to cause a negative experience for their team. A Tassadar player who chooses the Support Talents will be much more viable as a Support character. We still expect Tassadar to put out smaller numbers when compared to the highest healing Supports, but with the huge amount of utility Tassadar brings, we think this is an okay trade off. The second change here targets Archon providing a little too much power; we’ve reduced some numbers to tune him appropriately. Internally, we’ve seen more Force Wall play as a result, which has been exciting.
