Developer Comment: Previously, The Lost Vikings had received a significant buff to their base stats to assist in their adjustment to experience globes. The Lost Viking players have since adapted wonderfully, so we're halving the impact of that buff, while assisting a few weaker talents.

Developer Comment: It's been awhile since we last changed the Lost Vikings. This round of changes is targeted at making the Lost Vikings significantly more potent in PvP situations while keeping their map pressure in check. There are a few talents in particular that will give the Vikings powerful benefits when they fight together, which should reward players who are able to properly micro them during combat. We hope these changes open up new playstyles that never existed before, which should be exciting for those who take the time to master these Heroes.

    • Increases Basic Attack damage by 30% for 3 seconds after hitting a Stunned, Slowed, or Rooted target with a Basic Attack. Using Basic Attacks against a Slowed, Rooted, or Stunned target during this time will refresh the buff duration.

Developer Comments: We like the punishing nature of Executioner, but have found over time that its benefit to the player is too narrowly scoped. We’re changing the Talent to be more consistently useful by giving the player a temporary Attack Damage buff that procs when they first hit a crowd controlled target.

Bug Fixes

  • Casting Dehaka’s Isolation on a summoned unit or Heroic pet, such as Misha, Gargantuan, or a Holo Decoy, will no longer also cause the Hero who owns that unit to lose allied vision.
    • Additionally, if one of The Lost Vikings or Chen’s Storm, Earth, Fire Spirits are hit by Isolation, only the affected unit will have reduced personal vision, but the player should retain allied vision.
    • Alternatively, if the only living Viking or Spirit is hit by Isolation, the player will have reduced personal vision and lose allied vision for Isolation’s full duration.

Developer Comments: We’ve combined the talent Superiority into Mercenary Lord, and removed the damage reduction from structures to prevent degenerative backdoor strategies. The combination of the damage reduction vs. Mercenaries and the ability to empower these Mercenaries felt like a logical pairing. We hope incorporating the two talents into one will make this level 4 choice an enticing one, as the two talents separated had a low pick rate.

  • The functionality of the Superiority Talent has been rolled into Mercenary Lord, which is now available to the following Heroes at Level 4:
    • Anub'arak, Arthas, Azmodan, Gazlowe, Nazeebo, Sonya, Stitches, and The Lost Vikings

Seasoned Marksman

Developer Comments: Overall, we like the way Seasoned Marksman is playing but wanted to tune up its effectiveness to reward those able to secure a healthy number of takedowns, while simultaneously tuning the talent up due to prior changes. Ideally, this will become a great talent pick when facing The Lost Vikings or Murky players.

The Lost Vikings, (Olaf, Baleog, and Erik) just fell through a Nexus portal and are now available for play! Read on for a brief overview of their Abilities, as well as how to control the Vikings in-game.

      • Use the activated Talent hotkeys “1”, “2”, and “3” to select and control the Vikings individually, or press the “4” key to guide them as a group.
  • Basic Abilities
    • The Lost Vikings’ Basic Abilities must be unlocked through Talent Selection.
    • Spin to Win! (Q)
      • Deals damage around each Viking.
      • Can be unlocked at Level 4 by learning the Spin to Win! Talent
    • Jump! (W)
      • All Vikings become temporarily Invulnerable.
      • Can be unlocked at Level 7 by learning the Jump! Talent
    • Norse Force! (E)
      • All Vikings temporarily gain a Shield.
      • Can be unlocked at Level 16 by learning the Norse Force! Talent
  • Mount
    • Go go go! (Z)
      • The Vikings gain increased Movement Speed for a few seconds.
  • Trait
    • Fast Restart
      • Death time is reduced for The Lost Vikings.
  • Heroic Abilities
    • Play Again! (R)
      • All Vikings are revived and teleported to the summoning Viking.
    • Longboat Raid! (R)
      • Summon a Longboat and go on a Viking Raid!

Design & Gameplay

General

  • Abathur's Ultimate Evolution clones, Murky, and The Lost Vikings’ deaths are now represented in 0.25 increments on score screens, as killing them awards 25% of the normal XP amount earned by killing another hero.

Talents

General

  • All Heroes (including Murky and The Lost Vikings) now count as full credit toward Talents which require Hero kills (such as Gathering Power).

New Level 20 Talents

Fury of the Storm

  • Every 5 seconds, the next Basic Attack will deal an additional 200 damage to the primary target, and 500 damage to each nearby Minion or Mercenary.
  • Found on the following Heroes:
    • E.T.C., Gazlowe, Nazeebo, Sgt. Hammer, The Lost Vikings, Zagara
